Week Two

10:01
February 12, 2008

During week two the marketing team had the task of selecting team colors…yeah, we know.  Most teams keep their colors and logos constant from year to year… something to do with stability.  Us, ROBBE’s are loyal to our team, but not very stable so we have changed team colors at least five teams over our twelve-year tenure with FIRST.  An the winner is….(drums please!)…GREEN!  Green pirates, who would have thought of that? So our team colors were finalized.

Oh yeah, the design team also worked on week #2.  We started prototyping like real pirates.  We tried the air cylinders and got the ball to project for three feet.  We figured we had a lot of work ahead of us before we can call this prototype a sure thing.  The chassis is looking great.  ROBBE might have gotten pushed around last year but with our new six-wheel drive design we will not be “pushovers anymore”.  Learning from experience is what we do best!!

The photojournalism group has teamed up with the web-page team.  The pictures are looking great and the web-page design is set.  We are having a pirate ship…much better than last year.  Our alumni mentor, Khaled, is doing a great job at showing us the ropes behind web design.

Drive/Design: Began making the arena with PVC pipes with the help of volunteers and students. Arena was a tough thing to build because all the measurements have to be accurate but it was well done. Also, the design team worked on different concepts for the best robot.

Marketing: Were looking for different options on which color our team shirt should be this year. Went online and made T-Shirts to see which one looks the best as well as gathering informations.

Web Design: After gathering new information, we moved to the design concept where we were thinking about the new layout that the site should have. We started on different sketches and combined them in one.
