FLL is FIRST's outreach to the younger, middle school generation. The students, ages 9-14, participate in a smaller form of robotics using LEGO-based robots. The students are able to use their imagination to design, contruct, and program their robots without the dangers and complications of machinery and advanced software. The students learn, at a younger age, to use engineering skills which are applicable to real-world challenges and situations. FIRST LEGO League is appeals to students grades 4-8 getting them interested in math, science, and technology for the future in FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) and beyond!
